Often in witchcraft, we separate our pathways based on interests, like divination or spiritualism. We also separate them based on tools used, like plants, crystals and brooms. Within these paths are also preferences: Some witches prefer to work with certain plants over others: herbs over flowers, poisons over wildflowers, and so on.
The Botanist, a floral spell oil set, caters to the botanical side of your witchcraft path, the one that likes to work with flowers in particular. Here, we offer you three beautiful flowers that offer a wide array of correspondence. And because botany, or plant science, does include non-flowering beauties, we include ferns and mushrooms as well. Both ferns and mushrooms are connected to the witch in lore, as they were considered just as dark, magical and secretive as we were.
This kit is based in part in the Victorian Language of Flowers for correspondences. In your oil set, you will receive:
- Lily of the Valley Oil (poison): Lily of the valley symbolizes happiness in the Language of Flowers. It offers us clarity and wisdom. It's used for communication spells and for contacting the faeries or performing fae magick, and it corresponds to memory, allowing us to remember this communication. This flower is poison, so a geat deal of caution is needed in handling it.
- Peach Blossom Oil: We use the delicate pea flower for money and love spells. It's a perfect "additive" oil to have on hand for these broad correspondences.
- Lilac Oil: Lilacs correspond to protective spells and rituals. They remove evil and negative energy from spaces. Lilac is also good in healing spells to represent grief, as it was often worn in Victorian times by widowed wives in mourning.
- Fern Oil: Use this oil to conjure the ancestors or the elements, or to strengthen your bond with the earth element. We also use fern for water magick, notably for rain spells. Ferns correspond to protection as well, ideal when performing elemental magic and working with and ancestral energies.
- Lion's Mane Mushroom Oil: Our mushroom oil also connects you to the earthen, ancestral realms, but lion's mane adds in a clarity and memory component, allowing us to remember any insight or wisdom. We can also use it for communication with earthly beings and for abundance. Lion's mane also grows on oak, a tree connected to the witch and one of wisdom and strength. All of these correspondences make lion's mane a go-to witchy item.
Each inclusion comes in a .5oz dropper bottle with coconut oil, a versatile oil that doesn't leave an oily residue like others. Please take caution in handling your oils, as an allergic reaction is always a possibility, and lily of the valley is poisonous, causing cardiac-related health conditions that are dangerous. Do not ingest.
Use our oils for rituals or spells in which you anoint candles, draw sigils in sand and on salt, to charge crystals or other altar tools, and more. It's up to you how you use your enchantment in your pathway. But no matter how these find their way into your spiritual practice, we know they'll be magical.
We apologize; due to the inclusions in this kit, no Mini Kit option is available.
